Trip Focus: Youth and Soccer Camp Outreach (Student ministry team - High School)
OHC teams partner with Conectar Global, a digital and youth discipleship ministry in Colombia. They will arrange a 3-day overnight sports and VBS camp with vulnerable youth from the area. Many of these children have never participated in such a camp. Our team will focus on building relationships through sports, games, arts and crafts, small group times, drama, worship and Bible teaching. We will also help organize two evangelistic festivals in nearby towns, with games, worship and fun activities. This will be our fourth year to send a team to Colombia.
Colombia Itinerary:
Tuesday, 7/30: Depart San Antonio and arrive in Medellin.
Wednesday 7/31: Visit Medellin and make final preparations for Festivals and Camp.
Thursday 8/1: Community Festivals in two rural villages, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
Friday 8/2 - 8/4: Overnight VBS and sports camp with 80 youth ages 12-18.
Monday 8/5: Rest day; sightseeing and exploration.
Tuesday, 8/6: Fly back to San Antonio.
Trip Details:
Trip Cost & Travel: $2,200. Land cost is $1,250; all-inclusive: meals, lodging, in-country transportation, insurance, interpreters, ministry supplies, etc. Airfare cost is $950; OHC MUST arrange all Airfare travel. The team will stay in Ciudad Bolivar outside of Medellin. Our missionary partner will arrange our lodging, transportation, food, ministry locations and activities.
Place of Stay: We will stay in a rented "Finca" (ranch-style house). During the 3-day camp, we will stay and eat on-sight, though our team's sleeping quarters will be separate from the campers. In all cases, we will have separate quarters for males and females.
Team Meetings: We will have several required team meetings prior to our trip. They will focus on building team unity, learning about the culture, and ministry planning.
